Picture this: back in 2007, the idea of drip coffee makers becoming a thing of the past seemed like a stretch.
Those strange things called pods hadn’t shown up yet.
One day while in a real estate office I spotted this strange looking machine. and, yes it used pods. I inquired as to how well it worked and was told it was great.
I’ll admit I had to scratch my head for a few days. I was intrigued enough though to do some homework. After doing so I began to see the potential.
I was captivated by the convenience and innovation of the Keurig coffee maker, and I knew it was something special. What if even a fraction of the coffee drinkers adopted this?
I wasted no time in getting on board, investing in Green Mountain Coffee Roasters shortly after discovering the Keurig. Of course, first I did some homework on the Company.
And oh, what a journey it’s been since then! Who would have guessed that this once-small investment would lead to a mind-boggling $13.9 billion acquisition by Dr. Pepper?
From humble beginnings at $4 a share to soaring heights of $150, Green Mountain’s stock made some serious waves. Just imagine: a $10,000 investment back in 2007 would now be sitting pretty at a jaw-dropping $375,000.
But here’s the thing—it’s not just about luck or being in the right place at the right time. It’s about having the vision to see potential where others might not. It’s about being open to new ideas and willing to take a chance when it feels right.
So, what’s the takeaway here? Well, for starters, it’s a reminder that sometimes the most unexpected opportunities can lead to the biggest rewards. It’s also a testament to the power of staying connected and open to new possibilities.
Sure, it’s easy to brush off messages on LinkedIn or overlook the people in our networks. But hidden among those messages and connections could be some incredible opportunities just waiting to be discovered. So, next time you get a message, why not take a moment to read it? You never know—it could be the start of something amazing.
Please understand, this really happened. This is MY experience. It wasn’t made up by AI or a marketing firm.
I have at least two dozen companies on the same track of innovation that I can tell you about.
